With the same owners as the Olde Pink House, Garabaldi might appear to be just another tourist trap near the city market. Look closer. This is a restaurant revered by the city's titans and Savannah's crème de le crème. Many remember Garibaldi for it's well-priced Italian classics, but the kitchen also sends out some much more ambitious offerings, albeit at higher prices. There are such unforgettable appetizers as lamb ribs, slow-cooked with a sweet ginger sauce and a fuchsia pear-cabbage relish, and a salad with a poached pear, arugula, walnuts, and goat cheese fritters with a port-wine vinaigrette. Plump soft-shell crabs come with surprising glazes, and grouper and snapper with original treatments may be paired with house-made chutney and crab risotto. Have your knowledgeable and professional server suggest wine pairings.
