Though the food here is fairly ambitious, the Metropolitan Hotel restaurant's trendiest days are behind it. It's still got that same ultramodern look in the minimalist dining room; tables by the pool, however, could be a better choice on a slow night, as they won't feel quite so lonely. Seafood dishes are particularly good—try the "oysters and pearls," an oyster in vodka tempura and sea vegetable broth. The tasting menu with wine pairings is a good option, as it will help you avoid the sky-high wine prices that show up on this and other Bangkok menus.
