LUXOR, am I in De-Nile?

Can a nice hotel really be had for $69 per night on the strip? Is this thru the Luxor Website? I like a spacious room, and a tub is a must. I have tried to search all Luxor posts and it is taking a while. I know, I want Luxury, on the cheap! Don't WE ALL??

I need a recent Trip Report on the hotel, with these specific thoughts:

a. is the hotel nice? or did it feel like it was cheaply made> Do they keep the place up?
b. how is customer service?
c. did you try room service? how was it?
d. did you eat in the hotel?
e. can i get a bathtub?
f. did you go to Ra nightclub?

Thanks in Advance! Any advice on the Luxor is welcome. It is within my budget. Last trip, I stayed at Bally, and got an upgrade
to a suite overlooking the fountains! I am thinking about that, and wondering if I should just go back to Bally.

Viva Baby!

Luxor is towards the end of the Strip that I happen to like a lot more than being in mid-strip. If you stayed in Bally's before, you will be happy with your $69 Luxor.

Luxor had a buffet called Pharaoh's Feast on the lower level- that was good when I was there. I am not a buffet person, but this one was ok- a lot of fresh choices and not just a bunch of steam cabinet food. They also have a game/movie floor that was a change from casinos and interesting.

Luxor is one of the hotels on the Strip where I have yet to stay. But I like the casino there very much. Of Strip Casinos it is my next favorite after Paris. Not as crowded and with very good placements etc. variety. My favorite is not on the Strip, but just off- at the Rio.

You still have easy access to so much in such a short distance that I would be happy with trying it out myself for that fee. Mandalay Bay etc. is right next door, and mid-Strip is not that far away either. You can also access the newer Palm and Rio from there without a problem. From what I hear, that's where the younger crowd hangs.

Luxor is black and gold, and to tell you the truth, when it was new, I thought it was one of the most striking I have been in there. Of course, they all get so much traffic- but I like the esthetics of Luxor, much better than some of the more massive and wildly colored places like MGM Grand or NYN- for example. I love the sports book at MGM though and also the one at Caesars.

Very few are in their rooms long enough on Vegas' Strip to make many of the room differences be all that important.Others probably disagree with that. One time when I was quite a bit younger I remember when we didn't get back to the room for 36 hours. No more of that, NOW. LOL I am sure Luxor has a tub etc.- it has a whole lot of marble, that's for sure.

Luxor is a great buy at that price. Presuming you already know how tacky LV is, you will agree that Luxor is a nice big theme hotel. To answer your questions:
- We were there last February and it was well maintained.
- You are not going to get fawned over at Luxor unless you are a high roller.
- Did not try room service.
- Hotel food service was excellent (for the low price you pay) Their basement buffet is better than most in LV and was quite a bargain. Their fancy restaurant Isis was incredible. Get the hot spinach salad made tableside if you go.
- Our room had a very nice marble bathroom with tub and shower.
- Did not go to Ra, but instead spent time at swanky Mandalay Bay.

You have to be in the tower rooms to get a tub. I understand the tower rooms are quite nice & bigger than the standard rooms in the pyramid - and newer. The tower rooms were built after the original pyramid to expand the number of rooms Luxor has, but I think they are just as easy to get to, I remember seeing the elevators for them along the inside edge of the pyramid.

The pyramid rooms only have a shower - although a big one. Hmm, I think there are also jacuzzi suites in the pyramid, maybe you can get upgraded to one of those.

By the way, I stayed in a pyramid room once & was quite happy with it. Nicely decorated & clean, I would stay there again, and, from the sounds of it, you would be happy there. But if the tub is a necessity, just make sure you specifically state that as a requirement on your reservation.

a. I stayed there August 2003. It was really very nice. I left feeling like you, wondering how it could be nice for such a low price. But it was really nice. The pool was also very nice.

b. check-in staff was wonderful.

c. I did not use room service.

d. I ate in the hotel. There are many options. They will send you discounts for the buffet -- it is not bad but I've heard that some of the buffets on the strip are better. I'd use your discount then find the best buffet. There is a MacDonalds where we got coffee, also a deli-type place tucked in a corner that had better than average food and reasonable prices.

e. You will need to make sure you have a room with a tub. I stayed in the pyramid and mine did not have one. But I think the Tower rooms did.

f. I don't recall going to Ra.

This is a fine hotel. Luxury? Go to Bellagio or Four Seasons. But for a cut-above at a reasonable price, the Luxor is a fun spot.

The only two hotels I have stayed in are Luxor and Bally's. I think of them as being on pretty much of a par.

I liked the Luxor because I thought the theme was pretty good and reasonably well don (by Vegas standards you understand). I actually prefer the mid-Strip location of Bally's but if I were you I may well be tempted to take the Luxor rate and try staying in a different part.

I think to get a tub you will need to request a room in one of the Towers (as opposed to the Pyrmaid itself). I am not 100% sure but I think all the rooms in the Pyramid just have shower cubicles.

I have eaten in a few places in the Luxor. I can't really fault any but none stand out as being particularly memorable. The Isis is supposed to one of the top hotels in the US but I haven't eaten there.

I did go to Ra one evening but found the music wasn't really my thing. Nothing was lost since the entry was free so we just stayed for one drink and then left to go elsewhere.

Thanks for all the Information and tips! I just checked and might do the Luxor during the week of my convention and on the weekend, take advantage of convention rates and splurge on the Venetian for $197 for Fri and Sat. I figure what I save on the Luxor, being able to experience the Venetian will be a great Vegas experience.

Any Venetian tips, I'm open!!!!

You won't be unhappy with Luxor, stayed there a few times years ago, staff was good, the room is very nice, lot's of gold but the bathroom is really nice. Large and has a good size tub and shower that is in a box style.

Food was good and RA was a lot of fun, it's good just to people watch and you get in and by pass the lines by showing your key. Great entry way to RA also, they have the usual, dancers, trance/club music, tables, lots of places to sit while enjoying the view.

One thing, if your not happy with your room (I had one that wasn't cold enough during the summer) they gave me an upgrade to a large suite! That was very nice!

Venezia sounds wonderful, never stayed but will soon!

Have fun!
