Luxor or Monte Carlo
In the newer strip hotel category these are the ones with the best price on our dates. ["best" by a large enough amount to make them the finalists] I know Monte Carlo is more central, but perhaps a bit boring and then there is pyramid power.... which would you choose???

Monte Carlo is considerably more central, and a very nice hotel. I haven't seen the rooms, but overall I think it's more luxurious than Luxor and I'd almost definitely choose it.
From what I understand, the nicer rooms at Luxor are in the tower anyway, so staying in the pyramid itself would give you the lower end rooms. You can always go into the pyramid and see it even if you don't stay there.

I stayed at both recently. I liked the Monte Carlo better than the Luxor:
- MC has better beds, by far
- The pyramid rooms at Luxor are ready for renovation. Not bad, but showing wear. The tower rooms are newer, but see bullet above.
- While this doesn't matter to me, pyramid rooms at the Luxor have showers only; no tubs.
- Both casinos are fine, with the Luxor perhaps having an edge because the Egyption decor is more fun.
- Lineups at the Luxor outlets, unlike at MC. (I don't like to wait 20 minutes for a cup of coffee.)
- The atrium in the Luxor pyramid is great, but that gets old fast.
- Check-in service at both was swift and friendly.
- The Luxor has a big lounge area near registration. It could be good, but over the course of three days the service consistently sucked.
The best news of all is, you're going to have fun no matter which you decide on.
