Entertainment Book 2006-Hawaii is it worth it?

DH and I are finally going on our long postponed trip to Maui. Last year I purchased a used book on this forum and then passed it along to someone else here after I couldn't use it.

Question- do you know if anytning in the book applies to Maui? I have looked on the website for Entertainment Book and everything I can find on their short list seems to be on Oahu.

Thanks, Lynnie

For the Hawaii coupons, about 75% are for Oahu. The rest are divided among the other islands.

In the past, on their site, you could put in a zipcode and get a complete list of all of the restaurants (or other category) starting nearest the zip code I put in.

Now it appears they have changed their site. I put in my zip code, when the categories come up I click on dining (or other category). I get three categories of dining, each with a few samples.

If I click on view all in any of those categories, I get a complete list of all of the Hawaii coupons in all of the categories lumped together.

It shows a complete list of the coupons available, but does not distinguish what they are for, only the company name. Nor does it say what island the coupon is for (unless the name of the company has an island name in it).

I don't think their site ever did say what island. But anyone could put any Hawaii zip code in and the restaurants, attractions, etc., would start from that zip code and work outward. You could click on any of them to find out info about the company and what the coupon value is. Now, I am only able to get that information on the few samples they have.

Their change in the website sucks.

If you wait until around March 1, the books will be discounted to about $20 + $5 shipping. If you wait until mid-May, they are $9.99 + $5 shipping.

Coupons in 'Maui Gold', 'This Week on Maui', & '101 Things to do on Maui' are also pretty good. The brochures are free and can be found at airport baggage claim and also several places on the island.

I just sent Entertainment Book an e-mail explaining the problem to them. Perhaps it is just an error on their site and will be fixed.

I too have been entertaining the idea of getting the Entertainment Book (no pun intended), but have been skeptical b/c of not knowing how many Maui coupons are in the book and what they are for.

I am going in February over Presidents Week so waiting for the book to drop in price in not going to work for me. I did find free coupons here http://www.maui-activities.com/coupons1ax.htm

Please post back and let me know if you get any info from Entertainment.

I bought one last time, and didn't use a single coupon. I think for just Maui, it isn't worth it.

We bought an Activity & Attractions Association Gold card when we went to Maui and it more than paid for itself. Their website is www.hawaiifun.org. The great thing is that they list all of the locations and amount for their discounts so you can decide whether it is worthwhile for you.

Thanks for the tip, AJColorado. It looks like a good investment for $30.00

Lynnie-

I have the 2006 Entertainment Book for Hawaii and I can send it to you if you like at no charge.

We went to Oahu only so the Maui coupons are intact.

If you would like me to send it to you, please provide your email address and I'll email you directly regarding same.

For the record, I found no use on Maui for any of the coupons in the last HA book--left it in the condo.

ITA on the Oahu vs. Maui comments on the E book. If you are going to Oahu for 5 days or more and staying in or near Wakiki, I'd get it.

I used enough coupons to pay for the book. It all depends on what you want to do. I used the parasailing, $30 or more savings, and a few restaruant coupons. I bought my book when they went 50% off since I did not go until June.

FYI: There are rumors of a $10 discount on the cost of the E-book, on another board.

We found it beneficial last July, but went to Oahu as well as Maui.

If I were going to purchase it now, I'd be sure to check the hotel/car rental E-discounts prior to making those arrangements!

Have you looked at Trade Entertainment Coupons?
You might even be able to trade for the coupons you are looking for with someone else.
It makes it more worth buying the book if you can trade for the coupons you like.

We bought the book when we traveled to Maui also. Didn't use a single coupon and gave the book to our housekeeping person upon our departure.
