Hawaii; Entertainment Book

I wasn't sure if the Entertainment book would be a good deal with so many coupons usually available at the airport, hotels, etc but the price was cut from $35 to $10 plus $5 shipping, so I will probably be able to make it up in a meal or two. Any good suggestions for activities and dining in the Entertainment book this year?

Am I remembering correctly, DawnCt, that your trip is to Maui and Oahu? If so, I think it would definitely pay you to get the book at the sale price. If you go to entertainment.com, and click on that first page to view all the books, then you can click on the Hawaii one, click "view it", and click on the left margin to see what goodies are being offered on both islands (all the different restaurants, etc.) Hope this helps!

bonniebroad and here_today_gone2Maui,

I have the book and wanted to see if you had any advice on how to decipher the coupons. The quantity is a bit overwhelming and if I'm not familiar with the town that's listed on the coupon, I'm not sure what island it's on.

Thanks!

Once you pinpoint the coupons for your island, the quantity becomes underwhelming.

You just have to figure out where you will be and the surrounding place names. Sorry. If it helps, under Fine Dining and Casual on Maui you can choose from businesses in Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Makawao, and Wailuku. There are some good places on Maui and some "eh" places in the book. Bada Bing, "eh," Hakone, great. Good choices include: Horhito's, Sala Thai, Vietnamese Cuisine, Bamboo, Casanova.
Some of the other coupons aren't even worth using, such as the Dominos pizza. The fine print says "Buy one at regular prince, get one free." Well, regular price is way more than the advertsed special prices, even with the BOGO deal. Who buys a pizza at regular full price?

Also, read the fine print. Many of the fast food coupons are only for Oahu locations. Subway is a prime example.

For activites, on Maui you have Maui Tropical Plantation, Kula Botanical Gardens, Sugar Cane Train, parasailing, a few boat trips. That's about it.

If you are going to Oahu you have much more to choose from in the book. There are a lot of Honolulu businesses

We will be on Oahu for three days, all of it at the Hale Koa, so it is hard to beat the prices there. Then we head off to the Big Island at the Hilton for five days, and Maui for 7. If I break even I will be semi happy.

Sorry, I meant to address that last comment to Jayne, although it might help you also, Dawn.
