comfy shoes to wear with a skirt?
I love wearing longer skirts in the summer, but never seem to be able to find stylish and comfortable shoes or sandals that look good with them. I am in my early 40s, so looking for something stylish and fairly young looking.. Looking for something that will stand up to a long day of walking around sightseeing or spent at an amusement partk.

I like the way espadrilles look with long skirts, and they are always stylish.
I find a low wedge, no higher than 2 1/2 inches to be comfortable for all day wear.
Flip flops also look young and stylish, and are comfortable, but I don't know how much support they give for all day walking.

I like the various Dansko sandals and slides for all day comfort. Much better support for all day wear than flipflops. Birkenstock also has a line called Tatami that is more delicate in style than their chunkier signature Birk style, but they have the same wonderful foot bed as the Birks do.

For bargains, I like the website www.sierratradingpost.com for Dansko shoes and other good-for-your-feet wear. You can search by size, style, or brand name.

With any skirt that is a couple inches past your knee, you need some sort of platformish-heel/sole to keep from looking 'stumpy'...I like the espadriles too..Cole Haan / Nike makes a sandal tha has a tiny bit of a sole that lifts you up a bit, looks great with capris or skirts.

I wore a pair of Mephisto sandals every day of my trip - and almost every day since. They are about 1 1/2 inch wedges with cork insoles that mold to your feet and cushion every step. The most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They are "slides" - no straps but they stayed on just fine.
Regarding the heel/ height - I wear flats most of the time but these give my foot the support my feet crave. When my feet are killing me I slide them on and there is an immediate "ahhh!!!".
They were pricey - about $150. I don't usually spend that much on shoes but it was a splurge for Paris - and money very, very well spent. They would (do) look great with a skirt.

I am another fan of Danskos and Mephistos---that's about all I wear. You can find some of each on sale at Sierra Trading Post (someone put the URL above). For Danskos, remember that they have several styles of sole: one is like a clog, but the "Bay Bridge" type of sole is much more stable.
http://www.dansko.com and select "Products" then "Women's" then "sandals" (If I put the exact page here it messes up the thread!)
The "Lolita" is a good example of the stable walking sole on a cute sandal; I've walked all day in mine. "Margrete" is an example of the clog base (best avoided, in my experience), and "Arabella" and "Ashley" have a higher, narrower heel---dressier but not as good for all-day walking or standing. Many of these may be found on sale at www.Danskooutlet.com

I love Clarks sandals and shoes. I wear my sandals all day. Zappos.com has a good selection of them and you can search by color, size, heel height. I've noticed thought that what some people find really comfortable, I find uncomfortable. It really helps to try them on and walk around a little.

Try skechers and some of the other "fashion" athletic shoes. They have very cute Mary Janes and other styles that are confy for walking - I do a couple of miles in a typical day with errands etc. - while still being stylish enough for a casuale skirt.
(I'm now up to 5 women who have asked what my skechers were so they could buy them.)

Agreeing with the comment above that everyone's feet are different. I absolutely can't wear Mephisto or Dansko myself but do OK with Ecco and some (but not all) styles of Clarkes and Aerosoles.
