Cheapest Way from JAX to Amelia Island
Hey all....
What would be the least expensive way to get from the Jacksonville Airport to Elizabeth Point Lodge in Amelia island? I would appreciate suggestions of ground transport companies, shuttles, etc....we just really do not want to rent a car!
Thanks!

I would ask EPL for the phone numbers of shuttle services. If you are staying for more than a couple of days, I would suggest renting a car so you can explore Amelia Island. Having been to Amelia 4 times, I can't imagine not having a car.

I agree about getting a car. There is so much to do there! I can't remember the name of the fort, but just ask the lodge and they will know...but anyway its a fun place to go walk and there is an area that overlooks a waterway used by submarines so you might luck out and get to see one either heading to sea or returning home.

I live on Amelia and I can't imagine suggesting someone come here without a car. There is only one cab company in town....Elizabeth Point is a great place to stay, but there aren't restaurants in walking distance.
I think EPL has bikes that you can use which would be fine for the daytime, but if you plan to dine at night it would be tougher. The historic downtown is about 2 miles from the EPL and is the place to shop, dine and walk around.
Additionally cabs are pretty pricey I think you would come out better with a car. A car service from the airport is $35 each way (from my last experience at Christamas).

Thanks for your replies...
We really do not mind biking around town..actually we would prefer it. As far as dinner, we might go out one night, and we can cab it then. We are really just wanting a very low-key vacation
I would even rent a car possibly, but no one takes debit cards anymore! We don't use credit cards at all! What to do?
Anyhow, so it is about $35 per way to and from JAX?
