Twenty-one inches of snow fell in the past few days, said Beth Jahnigen, Copper Mountain communications coordinator.

Keystone will be next to open, on Friday, Nov. 8. Resort officials said the mountain has gotten about 24 inches of snow in the past two days.

Breckenridge, which opens Nov. 15, reported two feet of snow in the past few days.

Officials at Arapahoe Basin have set a tentative opening date of Nov. 27. The ski area recorded almost a foot of new snow Wednesday morning and another 9 inches by Thursday, with a total of 45 inches for the month.

At this time last year, A-Basin had received only 3 inches of snow, said marketing director Leigh Hierholzer.

" This is the most we've had - it's a record ," she said, adding the average snowfall for October is 19 inches. "Over the last 25 years, the closest that it's come to that record was back in '82-83, when we received 37 inches in October."

Hierholzer said employees are busy completing construction on A-Basin's new snowmaking system. It will be the first season with snowmaking - the resort received final approval for snowmaking earlier this year, after seven years of legal battle and protest. Officials hope to begin snowmaking operations within the next two weeks, she said.

"Everybody's pretty excited about all the snow," Hierholzer said.

Snowed a bit more over the weekend. Got in some great Cross Country skiing and am looking forward to skiing Keystone this weekend. It looks more like Mid Jan than early Nov. Nov historically is a very snowy month! To say ppl are excited is an understatement!

For Gretchen! From todays local paper,

Keystone opened Nov. 8 with more than 30 inches of natural snow. An additional 10 to 16 inches fell over the weekend, allowing officials there to open terrain to the top of Keystone Mountain. Peru, Montezuma and Discovery lifts will take skiers to Haywood, Silverspoon, Frenchman and Discovery runs.

Copper Mountain opened Nov. 1 for the afternoon before opening with regular hours the following day. Resort officials reported 2 feet of new snow over the weekend. Additionally, they expected to see another 3 to 6 inches before closing Sunday and an additional 6 to 12 inches by the time the slopes open today.

The mountain is boasting a 38-inch base at mid-mountain and a 44-inch base at the summit. Runs open include Mine Dump and CDL, Ptarmigan, Rhapsody and Main Vein. The new jib park, featuring seven rails and two fun boxes, is also open.

Breckenridge Ski Resort is tentatively scheduled to open Nov. 15.

Vail Mountain will open early this year, on Nov. 16. The resort will open with 762 acres of terrain - 50 trails - and lifts 1, 2, 4, 8, 15 and the Eagle Bahn Gondola from Lionshead. Officials anticipate opening more lifts and ski terrain before Thanksgiving.

Officials say more than 6 feet of snow have fallen on Vail Mountain since September and nearly 3 of that in the past week alone, contributing to a 27-inch mid-mountain base and up to a foot of additional snow at higher mountain locations. On Oct. 31, the ski area exceeded its mid-mountain settled base record of 19 inches set Nov. 1, 1996.

Keep up the reports. I do appreciate them. I am looking forward to our trip. Have you had a chance to see the interior of Valdoro Lodge in Breckenridge? If so are the units nice and how would you compare them to Sonnenalp if you've been in those. We are staying at both places.

Today's Vail Daily announced the opening of Sun Up & Sun Down Bowls this Saturday 11/16, Blue Sky to open by Thanksgiving.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting! I really want to try Blue Sky!! Thanks for the input!

Also saw Killington and Stow are making snow and have a couple of lifts open. Looks like it will be a good year. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Never have been ow Wolf Creek its a bit out of the way for me. Have heard ppl rave about it and they have tons of snow. The only bad I hear is the lack of lodging, restuarunts. Some folks at www.epicski.com might be able to give you first hand info

Actually if Wolf Creek is out of the way that may be a good thing. Shorter lift lines and less crowds. I hate crowds.

Wow 2 1/2 FEET of snow fell on Vail this past weekend, bringing our total snowfall to 6 1/2 feet to date. This Saturday, 10 lifts open and over 2,300 acres, including most of the front side and the original legendary Back Bowls. November 23, we'll have 13 lifts open, including Game Creek Bowl. And...just in time for Thanksgiving, on November 27, virtually all of Vail Mountain will be open including China Bowl and Blue Sky Basin!
