Mendocino, CA -- has anyone stayed at Hill House Inn

This is the inn that was used as the local inn in the fictional town that Jessica Fletcher (Murder, She Wrote)lived in. Has anyone stayed here? From its website, it looks very nice (as do all places on their websites). Hoping to get someone's personal opinion before we book a long weekend here.

I have not stayed here, but we considered it. It is located close to town and is neat and tidy. We decided there were so many other B&B's that were less hotel like (further away though) and more appealing.I am sure it would be very nice.

It's been a few years -- they were still filming there at the time, and kept the sign saying Cabot House or whatever they called it -- leaning against the Hill House sign. We had a very nice room and thought the place was great.

By the way, I'm not sure if this is still true but Mendocino was one of the few places I've ever been where no one seemed to take credit cards. We ate in three nice restaurants and all made clear when you call for reservations that credit cards weren't accepted.

Just got back from Mendocino, although I stayed at a private residence.

Don't know personally about staying at Hill House, but it does have a good location.

Check out www.mendocino.org They list most of the properties in the area. There are tons. I second the no credit card thing (this means debit too). Tried to use a cc at Patterson's (cute pub, good food) and they take cash only. Not many banks in Mendo proper but saw Bank of America and Wells Fargo in Fort Bragg (10 miles)

Have a great time.

Stayed there last yr. "nice" room but whole place needs a update and I felt greatly over priced ,even for Mendocino.
I like the Mendocino Hotel-Vintage furniture, good dining room, beautiful bar and right on main street facing bay and ocean.
Good Luck
