Hi all,

I'm going to Venice for the first time in September (8-11) and looking at hotels to book. My father has said that air-conditioning is a must and I shouldn't go anywhere without it. Is he being fussy?

Can you just have the window's open, or are we going to be eaten alive with mosquito's?

I'm not looking to spend a fortune on a hotel, but it's hard to find anything in our price range (<200 per night) that has air-con.

I would be as concerned about the possibility of muggy humidity and the ability to sleep in that environment than anything else.

Personally, I don't think that's being "fussy" since comfort at night, or lack thereof, could possibly greatly impact your enjoyment of the city.

I honestly wish I could offer more but perhaps others will be more reassuring.

Hi Laura, just make sure to pay attention to what Ira said..make sure the hotel will have their airconditioning ON or in other words operating. Because of economic and enviromental issues etc. just because a hotel has a/c it does not mean that you will have access to a/c. So do get a commitment from them. If you haven't secured a hotel yet I would do so immediately. Part of the time you're there coincides with the Venice Film Fesitval - and often hotels in Venice sell out - and people have to stay in outlying towns.

We will be in Venice on September 30th this year and found what appears to be an amazing hotel which is costing us 145 Euro a night for a superior double room with canal view(if you pay in cash you get a discount). The hotel is called the Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo and it gets marvelous reviews on Tripadvisor. I have e-mailed with them directly and they are very prompt and very accomodating....I can't wait!

ll be there at this time and have stayed at my hotel before which, mercifully, does have A/C.

Check the website for Venere www.venere.com . I used them in May for a trip to Italy and you have many options. We stayed at Palazzo Rosa and it was very nice with great air conditioning!
