Suggestions for Venice Hotel in September under 200E per night?
Maybe I'm hoping for too much. So far, Novecento (240), Pensione Accademia (285), Hotel Antico Doge (225), Hotel Al Ponte Antico (250).
My preference would be immaculate hotel with a/c (maybe not needed in Sept?), elevator, bath with nice shower, w/in walking distance of the sights. Should I just take the Hotel Antico Doge at 225 and be done with it, or can I find a nice hotel in the 175-200E. It seems like most things are 250-300 and up, or cheaper hotels with things like shared baths (eewww).
Any ideas? Thanks, annieladd

If you don't mind a B & B, Corte 1321 is really beautiful and really central.

No elevator needed there - all the rooms are up one short flight of steps.

Annie-whichever one you choose, you ought to decide soon, because there is regularly now, through high season, 100 percent hotel capacity in Venice. This past Easter weekend, the Venice newspapers had front page headlines of "120,000 tourist invasion" in Venice-much complaining that the fragile environment cannot take such an "assault" - it IS difficult on the city. Last September when I was in Venice, there was in fact 100 percent hotel capacity.

Fabulous!
Or try searching Trip Advisor.
http://www.tripadvisor.com
They have a fabulous search engine that searches real availabilty on all the booking engines and you can search by price.
Ahh...Venice. Although I agree that tourist limitations would be a good idea.

<Rialtogirl, what's the neighborhood like around Corte? Any shops and restaurants? Thanks, annieladd>
Annie, the B & B is in the heart of San Polo so there are TONS of shops and restaurants there. Yet the B & B is tucked away in a back street and inside a courtyard, so it is very peaceful and quiet there.
The rooms are gorgeous and the courtyard is lovely as well. If it is available go for it!
Girlspy, I was in Venice at Easter two years ago and I have NEVER seen so many people in Venice as that Sunday and Monday. Not even during Carnivale. It was insane. A lot of them are Italian day trippers... gazillions of them.

www.lacalcina.com is a favorite for good reason, and in that price range, but no elevator.
