I'm not sure you'll find "fabulous" for $100-150 for 2. Venice is very expensive. Does that budget include beverages and dolci?

Not in the position to do a Cipriani type dinner. Yes we are looking $150 for both of us.

This place comes with good recommendations. I have not been there, but will give it a try when next in Venice September '09

This place is nice, it's family run and the food is excellent. It is in Cannareggio. Vini da Gigio.

150USD is only around 115 euros. I think that if you did not get too crazy with the wine selection, you could do it. But I haven't seen the prices in about 20 months.

La Zucca has pretty food and isn't all that expensive. I like it.

Boccadoro has a very romantic atmosphere. With careful ordering, you can have a nice meal there.

What do you want in atmosphere and location?

I also recommend Vini da Gigio. Another one we like very much is Ristorante Riviera on the Zattere. If you don't order a bottle of wine at either place you could keep the price down to your range.

Thanks for all your recommendations. We are staying at hotel across the GC from the train station in S. Croce. The dollar is strong now at 1.27 to the Euro. 125 euros...romantic setting, view?
