Venice hotel question
Champagne taste/beer budget, and I don't know any Venetian princes with spare palazzos...
Looking for suggestions for the nicest place to stay in Venice for the least amount of Euros.
Thanks for any suggestions.

As often mentioned of this board, take a look at Pensione La Calcina, on the Guidecca canal. www.lacaclina.com

Try www.hotelgalleria.it we stayed there for 6 nights in a room with a wonderful view of the Grand Canal. We could watch the water traffic from bed - bliss! Breakfast was brought each morning to our room, the bathroom was fairly new and clean, it's in a typical old Venetian building 2 mins walk from the Accademia Bridge and a vaporetto stop, convenient but not noisy. Good value for money. Nice helpful staff too. They only have 10 rooms, of varying size, so book early if you can.

The Hotel Kette may "work for you" it is located very close to St. Marks, and very convenient to everything. It was reasonable 2 years ago, of course with the Euro, you would have to check the current rate. It is a well run hotel, with great location, a nice breakfast, and, close to the Vaporetto. The only negative I had was the rooms were a little dark, but they did have Frette bed linens and of course Venetian glass Light fixtures in the room.
