Check out Merrels - they come in black and the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn for walking - they cost about $80.

LL Bean makes an imitation called "comfort mocs" that is almost as good for less than $30. Lands ENd and Eddie Bauer have similar.

Frankly - I agree - who the heck is going to see these kids' feet???

Thanks for the report update! Nice to read about the closure of the choir teacher "drama".

All's well that ends well. I hope there's a chance for some constructive feedback that'll help the next trip be a bit less stressful in the preparation.

Padraig you bet your fanny I judge teachers, I judge anyone who is going to be in charge of my children.

Sounds like that teacher on this trip had a LOVELY time, lets see, he didn't do bed checks, he didn't chaperone any kids, he ate NO meals with kids, but with his WIFE that came along...

duh,, he had a nice free trip .

Missypie I am glad your kids had fun,, and anything that wasn't quite right is kind of fun to talk about when you are home ( sometimes issues are " diasters " on the road, but " adventures" when safe at home.

It is a shame they couldn't have catered at bit more to making it educational, I do understand that kids/teens have short attention spans, but 10 minutes sounds like the guide thought they were retarded monkeys,,LOL
They did get to see lots though!

bozama, I think you missed the point I was making. The forum to deal with any worries that one has with any aspect of a teacher's work is with that teacher or with the school. If that does not work, it might be appropriate to go elsewhere. I think missypie made a mistake in bringing the issues here rather than raise them with the teacher or the school.

I responded to a particular thing you said -- "And why do people feel sorry for these teachers they CHOOSE to do these field trips, they are not FORCED,, ask all the other teachers who choose NOT to do them." That is a general remark about all teachers who volunteer to do something extra. There is a tone there that I think is wrong, in that it suggests that they are not entitled to appreciation or support. Were such attitudes widespread, then you would find no teacher would offer to do anything more than fulfil minimum contract obligations.

Parents with sufficient income and time would be able to make good any reduction in the educational experience, but for some children the school trip might be their only opportunity to get a larger window on the world.

It sounds like a good trip. I hope the choir teacher learned a thing or two about traveling.

Now give us the recipe for the pork tenderloin.
