Cars in the U.K.

We are looking to hire a larger car for travelling around the U.K. we are two couples and our luggage - and one of the men is 6 ft 4 so he needs some leg room!!!!!! Any suggestions as to what is the best available for driving around for a month would be much appreciated .

Something like a VW Sharan Deisel Auto might fit the bill. Decent mileage, plenty of cabin space and good luggage space.

You can't specify a make of car.

All you can do is specify group E or above, and put the big guy in the front

Actually something like a Renault Kangoo would fit the bill too. Two of my sons are both 6'3-4" tall and they fit in the back of mine, though obviously they are more comfortable in the front. Lots of baggage room too.

ditto what flanner and sheila say . .

You are not guaranteed a specific model. They all say something like >>VW Sharan [insert any car name] or similar<<

So just make sure you book the group of car you want.

Something the size of a people carrier - seats for 7 and no luggage or seats for 4 and luggage space.

You also get lots of cup holders and cubbyholes to put things in to keep them safe - then forget where the cubbyhole is

When we were 2 couple with 2 tall guys we rented a Mercedes ( C only) and those you can reserve in advance.

But - we were very disappointed - the engines in europe must be different than in the US - since the car had zero pick up (getting onto a highway was always an adventure).

We always do Avis or Hertz - since we get special corporate discounts at both.
