It must have been a long time since you've been there as they haven't sold carnets for at least 3 years. You can buy a Navigo Easy card and load tickets on it. One wrinkle is that now you can't use the same ticket for metro/RER and bus, they are two different tickets. You'll have to read up on that to decide what you want. If you use transport a lot in a day, might as well get the unlimited daily pass. I don't know if you can use a contactless card in itself, don't think so but I just use a Navigo pass card.

AS for your itinerary, I would prebook the Orsay ticket. I don't think those Seine cruises are all that different myself, I don't take them that seriously and don't depend on them for narration. I think the big Bateaux Mouches are fine and I've also done a smaller one but if you don't get a good seat, that may not be great. I think I used Bateaux Parisiens, it was fine. I'd just go with which one is closest to where you might easily be. Some people sweat by Vedettes to Pont Neuf but I don't care for their loading location myself.

FYI, the annual Fete des Vendanges in Montmartre takes place the weekend of your trip. It is a grape harvest festival surrounding Sacre Coeur. Lots of good food, wine, music, etc.

You are going to be super disappointed returning to Shakesspeare & Co. unless you enjoy standing in line for 40 minutes to even get in.

Also Hemingway and Joyce no longer frequent the place, and even Sylvia is long gone.

forgot both the orsay ans orangerie have good exhibits so revamping my Tuesday for that. I also never seem to make it to the decorative arts museum. Always so much!

As Kerouac said, it was shocking and disappointing re the lines at Shakespeare & Co. So I had to buy my Joyce “yes I will yes” bag online. I bought my first Ulysses book from them when visiting in 1972!
