4 days in Madrid and 3 days in Seville or 3 days in Madrid and 4 days in Seville?

My wife and I are planning for three weeks in Spain. The trip is pretty much booked, but we are struggling a little with the time we should allow for Madrid and Seville. We have 7 days to allocate between the two (taking the train from Madrid to Seville). We figure 4 in Madrid and 3 in Seville simply because Madrid is bigger and likely there is more to do and see. Anyone have suggetions as to the proper split in the time? Thanks in advance.

I think this question is about personal tastes If I were you, I will prefer to stay 4 nights in Madrid and 3 in Seville. Madrid is like any other big city, lots of things to see and that requires time. Seville also has things to see but what I love most of it is walking the old streets of the city centre and just..breath

Neither is enough time in either place. Just pick and plan on going back.

What do you want to experience in these cities? If it were me? I'd do 5 days in Sevilla and 2 in Madrid BUT I don't like big cities and I'm not terribly into Museums. I love Sevilla for the gardens of the Alcazar, Parque de Maria Luisa, but really I could just get lost (on purpose of course ) in the winding streets of Santa Cruz. I find myself more able to relax and enjoy the scenery in Sevilla, while in Madrid I find myself getting lost in the fast-paced city. But again, just as kenderina said...it's all about personal tastes.

This is the way to answer your dilemma....what city would you visit if you had an extra day? A visit to Toledo, Segovia, Avila, or El Escorial can be accomplished as a daytrip from Madrid. Merida, Granada, or Ronda can be done as daytrips from Seville. Pick where would you go if you had an extra day and homebase accordingly.
