Please advise!

To note:
- Intending to do a Versailles Trip in Paris.
- No sidetrips in Venice.

I would suggest 2 days Venice and 4 days Paris. Venice is beautiful, but not so big. 2 days will not be enough, but sufficient to vitit the main places. Of course Venice has many 'secret' beauties that reveal its charm. Best for you, if you have 2 whole days. Paris on the other hand, has much more to see, especialy if you intend to go to Versailles. 4 days also for Paris are not enough, but in case you don't have much time, spend as much time in Paris as you can, so as to visit everything, and also make your walks in Monmarte, Marais and Latin Quarter...

Neither time is sufficient IMO for each
city but Versailles will eat up one day.

I'd prefer 6 days in Paris including 1 or perhaps 2 daytrips.

I'd go for 6 days in Venice or 6 days in Paris. My first choice would be Venice. But if it must be split--then I'd go 3 days in each city.

I have done this trip and I would definitely do 2 in Venice, 4 in Paris. You will not see everything in either place in that amount of time but 2 days will allow a beautiful overview of Venice which is smaller and 4 will allow you the same in Paris which is much larger. Most likely in the end, as with me, you will schedule another trip to see all the things you loved in more depth.

I would do 3/3 and drop Versailles.

this is going to be a tough call! My husband had been to Paris and he loves it there. He is in fact leaning towards 2/4.

Is it true that Venice is generally more expensive (eating and shopping) than Paris?

Are we correct in assuming there is a 7th day -- the day you go from one to another, or is that counted as one of the days in one of the cities?

I'd also lean toward 2 in Venice, 4 in Paris.

There is no 7th day. Perhaps i should spell it out more clearly.

Arrive Venice: Noon

Venice - Paris via plane
Depart Venice: 8.30pm
Arrive Paris: 10.30pm

Depart Paris to home: 10+pm flight

So is this 5 nights, 6 days? If so, then I guess you should do 3/3 otherwise you won't really have much time for Venice, especially if you experience any jet-lag. But if it is 6 nights, then my advice is 2 in Venice and 4 in Paris.

Venice: 3.5 days 3 nights. Paris: 3 days 3 nights.



We will be training from Florence so perhaps jetlag wouldnt be too much of an issue?

Okay then -- 2 and 4 is my advice. I just saw your other post about Florence. in my opinion it is not worth it to go to Pisa with such a short time in Florence. But if you do choose to go, then it should take half a day to see the tower including train time. I just had my wedding in Florence in May and of my 60 guests, about two thirds spent an entire week there without any time for side trips at all(even considering many of these guests have been there at least once before). Other guests only spent 4 nights there, still with no side trips but instead other 3-7 night stays in Venice/Rome. Cinque Terre is lovely but you can't really enjoy the beaches too much at this time of year. Not that the villages themselves aren't cute and the landscape is gorgeous but you might want to save it for the next time. Anyhow, let me know how it works out in the end. Happy planning!
