I will be staying at Biras Creek in Jan. What did you think of the rooms? I am not expecting luxury- more like tropical inspired decors?
Would you recommend walking over to BEYC for anything special?
Any info on sights or anything else would be great.

AtlDad,
I did not eat there as I was on a meal plan over at BEYC and just walked over from there. The views from the ocean front rooms were a fantastic view of the Atlantic,and the room interiors were superb. I would not stay in a garden room as thier view of beach is blocked. Also,I did not care for their beach as it was far away from the rooms and not great for swimming or snorkeling.If you just wanted to read or sun it was fine.

shabbychic,
Rooms to me looked modern like they had been done over recently,much nicer than BEYC.Very nice breeze constantly blowing ,in probably wouldn't even need the ac.
There is nothing to do at BEYC except water sports and eat.You can also get a free ferry over to Gun Creek from here.You could then rent a taxi which would show you some great views,take you to the Baths,and shopping in Spanish Town. We had a party of four and it was $100.

We just came back 2 mo's ago from Biras Creek. Stayed there 7 nts in Ocean front rm. Rooms look just like shown on thier web site, had no problems, a/c worket well in the bedroom, bathrooms and living rooms are not airconditioned.Rooms are not Rits but very tastfully decorated, very clean, nice (but partially obstructed by vegitation) viewes of the ocean (some rooms views obstructed more then others).Food was very very good, especially the dinners. gorgeous views from the restaurant. Went twice to BEYC to watch sunset at thier English Pub for more action(there was none at Biras at all) That was only one draw back for us that they did not have nice bar to "hang out" before and after dinner. The one they have does not have that "hang out " atmosphere, too formal. Otherwise we were very pleased with our choice and would go back.
If anybody have any speciffic questions be glad to answer.

The rooms at Biras are tropical decor, spacious and comfortable, but not Ritz type. Other than just taking a walk to BEYC to see it, or pick up some munchies at their store, there is not a reason to go there -- although I guess if you wanted to go to the pub for more action you could try it, as Biras is very quiet. I do not agree that the garden rooms should not be considered -- it is true they are not ocean front, but you can see the ocean -- it is a matter of what you want to devote your $ to, as they are more expensive and are the same inside. I also disagree about the beach, it is great for swimming, calm and you can also take out kayaks, sailfish or hobie cat boats. For good snorkeling or diving sign up for the trips Biras offers. Biras has great hiking trails, the bikes are fun, and there is tennis if you are so inclined -- with these activities and the boating options you can be very active if you choose, or do nothing if that suits you. Personally we thought the food was good by Caribbean standards, but not what we would term very, very good.

Lisabees;
My girls are 14&15 so we did not do any organized kid activities.They did take a windsurfing lesson,but mostly went on the organized trips that the resort offered.The watersports staff was very organized,and it seemed like any time you needed a boat be it a Boston Whaler or sailboat,there was always one available.
There is also a kids movie everynight at 7:00 which seemed to always be crowded.The movies were right beside where you ate, so you could eat while they were watching a movie. This to me, was a very safe resort and we never had any worries ay all...Heck you don't even have keys for your room.
Hope this helps a little.
