Any particular ranger or room at Phinda Forest?

We are heading to Phinda Forest in September. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding a specific ranger or a room that we should request?

thanks
Lynne

We liked our room but I'm not sure it is better than others--no. 17 and it was the furthest from the main lodge so we had no one on the other side. We did have a longer walk than many.

All the rooms are beautiful and, I think, the same. And they are not too close to each other--a necessity with the glass houses (there are shades!).

Our guide was Thulani and I can highly recommend him (this was three years ago). He has high marks from other Fodorites as well. We loved Phinda.

Thulani for a ranger. But I've read about other recommendations. Cottage--not the one closest to the dining area.

Condsider doing a rhino tracking one morning.

Lucky you Lynneb and Moremiles!

Definitely want to do some rhino tracking! Lynn, I am going to send your report of it to my friend to see if she is interested also.

Ask for Walter at Forrest Lodge. In 6 trips to Africa, he rates in the top 3 rangers I have had. I would go to Phinda just to have him again. As for rooms, the hike can be hefty from rooms 10 and past. Unless you want a lot of privacy, I would ask for a closer room.
