This Vancouver minichain has been keeping residents and tourists in Chinese comfort food since the 1970s. You can find better Chinese food elsewhere, but Hon's locations are convenient and the prices are reasonable. The best bets on the 300-item menu are the dumplings and noodle dishes, any of the Chinese vegetables, and anything with barbecued meat. The Robson Street outlet has a separate kitchen for vegetarians and an army of fast-moving waitresses. The original Keefer Street location is in the heart of Chinatown.

In two holidays that included Vancouver, we have eaten here a total of 8 times - always excellent food (never managed to eat it all), wide-ranging menu, super-fast service and very reasonably priced. Yes, you can eat better but it will cost at least twice as much.
Our daughter (now 23) measures other Chinese restaurants using Mr Hon's sweet & sour as her benchmark.
