Gasparito Restaurant & Art Gallery
Gasparito Restaurant & Art Gallery Review
You can find this enchanting hideaway in a cunucu (country) house in Noord, not far from the hotels. Dine indoors, where works by local artists are showcased on softly lighted walls, or on the outdoor patio. Either way, the service is excellent. The Aruban specialties—pan bati, keshi yena—are feasts for the eye as well as the palate. The standout dish is the Gasparito chicken; the sauce recipe was passed down from the owner's ancestors and features seven special ingredients, including brandy, white wine, and pineapple juice. (The rest, they say, are secret.) Gasparito is an AGA Dine-Around member.

We truly enjoyed the evening at Gasparito's. There were a few hiccups along the way, but the manager was ever present making sure that we were all happy.
The other reviewer mentioned the long wait. The owner explained from the beginning that all meals are made to order with fresh ingredients. They don't "prep cook" anything. I am quite happy with the rich flavors knowing that they were prepared just for me.
As a result, we were able to order custom dishes and create our own combo platters. Not too many restaurants are interested in breaking meals into so many different combos.
It was a nice change of pace from the bustling "scene" restaurants. The atmosphere was quiet and festive at the same time. If there was a water view - it would have been perfect.
The goat was a favorite of our group as well as the seafood Kashi Yena. The coconut shrimp apetizer was delicious. The Kerry Kerry (while really talked up by the owner) was so so. Not too much curry flavor - it needed a kick.
We had a party of 12 going to dinner each night for 6 nights. This was by far a favorite that will be added to our "must visit" restaurants for years to come.
ps. Don't forget to visit the art gallery indoors and check out the jewelry made by the owner's wife! She only makes one piece each day. It's beautiful!
