Portland & around

Just got back from Portland. Took my daughter to Pambiche for a very yummy Cuban meal. The desserts were just as outstanding as the meal! Very crowded, but worth the wait. We also ate Rose's deli & Bakery. Had the cinnamon french toast, that was to die for! Loved Stumptown Coffee on Belmont, fantastic place to people watch.(My favorite thing to do)
Did antique shopping in the Sellwood area; and fun, eclectic shopping on Mississippi and Hawthorne. Did the Saturday Market - always a fun local thing to see.
My only disappointment was the weather - no rain! I live in Southern Calif. and we haven't had any rain for so long I miss it, so was hoping it would rain, but no such luck. Fall is beautiful in Portland, love all the trees and leaves falling.
It was fun to explore other areas besides downtown Portland.

Elaine

Thanks for the report, Elaine. I'm curious though; how did you choose Pambiche and Rose's? They don't often show up on lists of favorites.

Too bad about the weather. You should have come a couple weeks earlier; you'd have loved it. ;-)

BeachBum, click on the name: Seremarcus's daughter is in college in Portland, I'm sure we'll hear about other restaurants not on the "list of favorites" and I'm looking forward to it as Portland OR is on my list to visit.

My daughter goes to Reed College, so we are always on the look out for new places to try besides the standard list of favorites on the site. My daughter drove past Pambiche one day and thought it looked so fun to try and a lot of people waiting to eat. (She had taken a tour of the Velveteria museum and gone to Alma Chocolate). I posted about it a few weeks ago and got good responses so we tried it. As for Rose's, we were shopping in the area and just popped in to try it.
I hesitate to post different then the list of favorites, but there are other choices out there to try and be discovered, and I love to hear about them.

Thanks Elaine. I was just curious. There are lots of great restaurants around town, and many don't get the recognition they deserve. Pambiche is one of those, I think.

Do we need to start thinking about a GTG, Faina?

Thanks for the report, Sellwood is a cool place to antique shop, if you're ever over on Mississippi again, Lovely Hula Hands is a nice place for dinner, it is in a restored Victorian home, really good food and service here. ***kim***

Glad you enjoyed your time here. I remember the huge cinnamon rolls from Rose's from when I was little. Now we have a Rose's in our suburb town
