New Orleans Jazz with a teen
We'll be taking my 14 year old son to NO mid-April on vacation. He is a history and jazz buff. We've got some great suggestions for the history part. But we really need help lining up some appropriate jazz adventures!
Any suggestions will really be appreciated!

Your son obviously can't get into bars but will enjoy any of the restaurants that have jazz music. Snug Harbor, Palm Court and Arnaud's jazz room immediately come to mind. Also, Preservation Hall is a must for him. (There is no minimum age at Preservation since they don't serve food/beverage!)

Definitely take him to the Jazz Museum located in the old U.S. Mint building. I believe the building also served as a mint for Confederate currency and there are a few displays pertaining to this, but the jazz stuff is amazing. Louis Armstrong's first coronet and bugle, etc. We heard some great jazz just in Jackson Square on weekend days. An entertaining three-piece was performing for brunch at Brennan's restaurant. You can't walk more than a few steps in the French Quarter without hearing some good jazz.
