Great music places in New Orleans

We plan on visiting new Orleans over Christmas and we are looking for great venues for live music. We are into the blues, creole and cajun music as well as New Orleans Jazz.

Preservation Hall is must. A truly unique place. They place New Orleans Jazz there.

Try walking down Frenchman Street. From what I understand reading articles about New Orleans, it's now the rebirth of the music center of New Orleans that the Quarter used to be. Enjoy your trip!

I was in New Orleans for the Jazz Festival in 2007. "Big Al" was one of the best singers we saw - he was at the Southern Blues Tent. We loved his music so much we went to see him at "the Funky Pirate", where he is pretty much a regular a few nights each week. (Check it out first). Can't say enough good things about Big Al and his show at the Funky Pirate.
