Hi, my husband and I are going to Ireland around July 4th and I was hoping for some help with a suggested Itinerary. We will have 7 nights and we will be flying into Shannon. We are thinking of seeing the Cliffs of Moher and staying in Doolin for a night, then Dingle Peninsula for a night (or two?) After that, we're up in the air as the best places to go. We've decided we don't want to go to Dublin, since we don't want to spend the whole trip driving. Other locations we've thought about are Blarney, the Ring of Kerry (will it be too crowded at this time?), Kilkenny (recommended by a friend)
Any help on where to go and the order to go in would be great! We'd like to see some locations other than extremely touristy places and we enjoy lots of outdoor activities.

the ring of kerry can be crowded, i would reccommend staying in beautiful Kenmare and travelling around the ring of beara instead, just south of it's well known big brother it is a lovely peninsula, real ireland! Continue on to Glengariff for the historical Eccles hotel (smoked salmon sandwiches and guiness) and if u get a chance visit the gourmet capital of ireland, Kinsale.
It's a cute town, but hey we're biased, we live there! Call in and say hello, we have Jean-Marc's Chow House Restaurant in the main street, have a great holiday
Sounds like you're off to a good start! I was over in the west part of Ireland this month, so I can make a couple of suggestions for you.
1. Go to Corofin and see the Clare Heritage Centre. It is a good museum about the potato famine and how people lived through it. There are several nice pubs in the village, along with lots of nice B&Bs on the edge of town. I stayed in the big red house (can't remember the name) run by Mary, and her cute dogs, Timmie and Jessie.
2. Spend some time in the Burren. The craftsmanship of the stone walls is amazing. Take the Green Road through and stop to see the wedge tombs and notice the delicate little flowers there. It is a very unique place!
I think Northwest Clare is vastly underappreciated by tourists racing to the Ring of Kerry. The coastal drive from Kilkee to Ballyvaughan is breathtaking; the smalltowns like Lahinch and Ennistymon, Kilfenora and Lisdoonvarna are charming and the interior - the Burren- is amazing. You are only a short jaunt to Ennis town, Bunratty and King John's Castle in Limerick. The trad music in all of the towns mentioned is exceptional! The area is rich in antiquities, not crowded and there are a variety of tourist amenities and great restaurants. Up the Banner!
