I will be in prague on 18 May, and would love to watch a show of czech phiharmonic orchestra, but its website shows that all ticket are sold out. Anyone know if there is anyways to get a ticket. Thanks a lot.

you might try turning up on the morning of the concert and seeing if there are any returns.

have a look at this website they sell tickets for all the main po;laces in prague, used them many times over the years, you can usually print off tickets, get them delivered to your hotel or pick them up at their offices.

The problem is you are going during the famous international Prague Spring Festival and tickets sell out early to the good performances. Many people plan their trip around that festival, I have a couple times. That orchestra is very popular and the tickets to those performances especially sell out early. The festival starts May 12th and usually runs about a month.

There are still tickets to the Toronto Symphony on Friday at Municipal Hall, that conductor is very good and so is the guest violinist. In fact, I like that program better than the one the Czech Philharmonic is doing. They also have tickets Saturday, they are doiing some Schumann. Due to the festival, they always tend to put in some Czech composers, I notice they are doing a Dvorak symphony on Friday and some Smetana on Sat. I prefer the Dvorak. There's some kid Korean pianist on Sunday doing various solo piano pieces in the Rudolphinum. You can definitely get tickets to that if you want to experience that venue.

Orchestras don't really put on shows that you watch, the Philharmonic doesn't. If you want a show of some kind to watch, there are some tourist concerts where they wear costumes or something (I think). I believe the website Bohemiatickets gives the usual tourist concerts, Vivaldi, excerpts from Czech music, Pachelbel's Canon, Ave Maria, excerpts from opera arias,etc., if you want something other than a regular full-length concert such as the festival has.

Cafe Mozart has some evenings with period costumes, and so does the Grand Bohemia hotel and the Dvorak Museum at times.

Thanks Christina! Unfortunately I will leave Prague on Friday. Actually I don't want a tourist show and looking for a real concert. But if really can't get a chance, I will also try the tourist concert you suggested.

we went to a concert in the Municipal Hall which we found out about when we were there, but even if you don't go for a concert, go for the food - there is a great and reasonably priced restaurant in the basement which is decorated with extremely beautiful ceramic tiles, and the food is good too - roast goose and red cabbage still sticks in my mind over 10 years later.
