Anse Chastanet

I am going on my honeymoon in 2 weeks to St. Lucia. We are staying at Anse Chastanet in a beachside deluxe room. I've been reading up though and think that maybe we should switch to a hillside deluxe room for more privacy. Can anyone help me? Which rooms are better for honeymoon romance and privacy?

I haven't been but while researching St. Lucis resorts I read that in some of the Anse Chastanet beachside rooms you can hear *everything* from foot traffic to what's going on in the next room. Not sure if I'd want that on my honeymoon ;-)

We stayed at AC for 3 nights as part of our 20-anniversary trip (highlight was actually Dominica). Loved it! I'm thinking the beachside rooms are down near the bar and tennis courts (you can ask management or maybe there's a property map on the website). Anyway, the hillside rooms are probably the way to go because of the gorgeous view and less foot traffic. We had a premium hillside room, and it was by far the most fantastic room we've ever had. But it was very expensive, and next time we go (and we will return!) we'll go for the deluxe hillside. Enjoy!

I have stayed at Anse Chastanet and would definitely recommend you change to the hillside room.

Ask for the highest up room you can get. The higher the rooms, the better the view and the quality.

Do NOT settle for one of the octagonal rooms - they are small and have a poor view.

The hike up that hill and all those stairs is a long one, but WOO, when you get up there - the view!!!

We had a hillside deluxe near the top, and it was amazing. Since it is low season, you should have no problem getting one.

Be sure to tell them you will be on your honeymoon, and they might even give you the room at the top! (Tell tham also that you would like to be in a room that is quiet and away from other guests if possible because the rooms are very open.)

Congrats!

rickandpat/Diana, we are also considering Anse Chastanet. Are the rooms up the hill the open air rooms. If so, did you have problems with critters or bugs in your room.

Our room was missing a wall and 3/4 (actually, there was some sort of wooden sliders so we could have closed it up). No, we did not see any bugs, spiders, etc., though a bird one day flew through. They have mosquito netting over the bed for a little extra security. And here's the payoff: Right from the bed was a wide open view to the ocean, and to the side was another wide view of the pitons over the bay. Wow!

If you are into snorkeling I have heard more negative than positive feedback on St. lucia as a snorkelers paradise. Just so you know.

It might have changed in the last 2 years, but the snorkeling right at Anse Chastanet was outstanding.

I agree, unbelievable views, and the last time I saw it, one of the rooms has a tree that comes up through your shower...

It was years ago, but we had one of the octagonal rooms on the hillside, and we thought it was lovely. The shutters opened up, it was breezy, and bananaquits would come into the room and eat the sugar we set out. We had a view of the Pitons - even from the shower. I agree with Diana, ask for a room higher up for best views and more privacy (so long as your legs are up for it - but just think - you can eat more ). I believe the octagonal rooms are first up the hillside, then the premium open walled rooms, and now there's a private villa compound above that.

A couple years later we went back to St. Lucia and rented a beautiful open walled villa, situated just above Ladera. That was even better (but you do have to have a car, and make some meals yourself).

I agree that the best St. Lucia snorkeling is right at Anse Chastanet (followed by a nice roti at their open air lunch restaurant).

Congratulations on your marriage!
