Where are the other 'sister cities"

This summer, Amityville- Le Bourget Alliance celebrated its 25 anniversary. During these years, many Americans and French participated in this exchange. Last summer, the American went as guests to the French and in 2 years, we will host the French vistors. I know that there are many sister cities but I have not 'spoken' to others about their exchange. I am eager to hear from others who have had the joy of this cultural and educational exchange.

When I was a grad student at the University of Wisconsin, my wife and I took a study abroad course in Europe. When we were walking around Freiburg, Germany alone one day, we found painted paving stones in the Altstadt portraying Wisconsin's capitol building. Turned out that the two were sister cities. Of course, I took a photo of it.

Sorry, I clicked on the wrong thing. The rest are:

Tema, Ghana
Tijuana, Mexico
Vladivostok, Russia
Warsaw Province, Poland
Yantai, China
Yokohama, Japan

I had no idea there were so many. I thought three or four! I think it makes for nice trips for elected officials at public expense.

My town, Tinley Park Illinois, has had a 15 year close sister city relationship with Budingen, Germany. We have groups go there one year, come here the next. They stay in Tinley Park family homes and the groups have been large, 60 to 100 or more. They have sent their Octoberfest bands and we have send some of our Arts Alive! troups. We host them for several events and take them around Chicago too.

A few years ago we added a second sister city of Mallow, Ireland and that group is building up in numbers also.
