Vegas - THEHotel vs. Bellagio Suite

Struggling between the following choices.
1. THEHotel + first class on Am. West

2. Bellagio (in Bellagio Suite) + coach on American

Cost is roughly equal. Any strong feelings of THEHotel vs. Bellagio
(in a suite)? Any strong feelings on America West?-- I am a Platinum
AA and have never flown AM West. Have some concerns about
late/cancelled flights, service, etc. Flying from Chicago
I have until tomorrow so any input would be much appreciated

THEhotel for a chic, urbane experience.
Clean lines, younger.

Bellagio for stately, classy environs.
Ornate features, mature.

One really big difference is the location of each hotel. THEhotel is at the end of the strip, so if you want to get to the central strip area you'll have to drive or take a cab, whereas the Bellagio is right in the center of it all. However, this also means that the Bellagio gets a lot of visitor traffic and the common areas of the hotel and casino can be packed on the weekends. While THEhotel/Mandalay Bay does get busier on the weekends, it's not wall-to-wall people like the Bellagio.

I much prefer the Bellagio (although I haven't stayed there). I have stayed at THEhotel, and while it was nice, it was just so darn "brown"! (the rooms, anyways)
Also the location of the Bellagio is ideal, not so with THEHotel.
THEHotel crystallized my design preferences...while there, I finally realized that I am not crazy about trendy, contemporary decor, and I much prefer traditional...
If decor/rooms matter to you, think about which you like better, and that'll be the hotel you'll probably enjoy more, because they're both very good hotels.
One more thing -- the service at the Bellagio overall is superior to thehotel.

Just came back from Vegas three weeks ago...BELLAGIO all the way! The service, the views, the sheer awesome architecture are worth it. Next time we're there, we plan to stay there. The fountain is really great as well. Location, location, location is critical too.

I've stayed at THEHotel but have only 'visited' Bellagio. If pools are important to you, THEHotel might have an edge (just my opinion) since it shares Mandalay Bay's pool complex Wave pool, lazy river, several 'regular' pools and hot tubs--it's a great area.

I wouldn't worry about location. The free tram connects Mandalay Bay to several south end hotels plus the monorail is available. If we're going to the northern end of the strip, though, we like to take our car and use the free valet services at all hotels. Just tip the valet

I loved THEHotel's rooms--I felt like we were in a cozy cocoon--so relaxing after the wildness of the strip. Plus, anytime I can get out of coach and into first class--I'm there.

I'd go THEHotel.

My boss is on vacation this week and he and his wife stayed in a suite at Bellagio on Sunday and Monday nights. He said the suite was fantastic - it was about 1,000 square feet. They had a corner room, so there was a huge window in the living room, a big window in the bedroom and another window in the bathroom. He raved about it. All that for $249 per night - they were running a special when he made the reservations. Anyway, the location of Bellagio can't be beat and it would be my first choice.

Have stayed at the Bellagio--not a suite but a fountainview room. Loved it. I have not stayed at TheHotel but have stayed at the Mandalay Bay.

I don't know if you are interested in using the pool area. If you are, just make sure you are not staying at THE when children are out of school. You don't mention when you are visiting but we stayed at the Mandalay Bay during a school break and the pool area was wall to wall people--lots of families. We could not find a spot to put a towel down--not a chair, just a spot. In the 4 days we stayed there, we were never able to sit at the pool. We couldn't even get into their adult only pool.

Although the Bellagio is in a more central location, we didn't have a problem getting around from the Mandalay Bay.

I echo linda's observations about the Mandalay Pool -- it was so crowded when my family was there, it was useless.

Time of Year for the amusement park pools is definitely true for excessive kids. We were there before summer and after when the pools are the best.

There are adult pools at THEhotel and you can request the staff to assist in keeping the divisions separate.
