Sofitel Hotel

Expedia is running a special on the Sofitel NYC. Any comments out there, good or bad, about this hotel for a 4 night stay?

We stayed there in August of 2004. It was EXCELLENT! I would grab it if the price works for you.

We were upgraded to a suite and the bathroom was "to die for." It is in a terrific location too.

Join their frequent guest thing too, got us candy in room, maybe wine and free drinks in Gaby's lounge.

Hope this helps...

I like it a lot; well located, nice rooms; some of them rather small but well furnished.

Stayed at the Sofitel and really liked it. It is close to everything and the rooms were large with large bathrooms. Once again what is the special we might go.

We thought the hotel was great. We did hear hallway noise (drunks at 2am?), but the room itself was wonderful and there was no street noise. It's well located to the theatre district. They gave us a late check-out which was quite helpful. I'd definitely stay there again.

Thanks for everyone's comments. The special running on Expedia right now advertises as $552 for 2 nights at the Sofitel, 2 tickets to Phantom of the Opera, and a dinner cruise for 2. What's a typical per night price here?

We stayed here last January and got a great deal on the room. It was our first visit to NYC and the hotel was in a perfect location for us. Close to many subway lines, just a quick walk to Time Square and Grand Central Station. Our room was smallish but very nice and quiet and the bathroom was great. Staff were helpful and very considerate. We loved it.

Great location and very solid for a 4* hotel. Rooms not enormous - but as big as you can expect in NYC unless you go 5* or suite.

We returned yesterday from a four night stay in NYC at the Sofitel. It was our first time at this particular Sofitel and I highly recommend it within its price range. Rooms and bathrooms are a decent size - the bathrooms have those little bath mits that always remind me of Paris - but I digress The service from check in to check out was very good as well. I had to use the business centre (unfortunately!) while there and they were also very responsive.

We ate at Gaby's only once, for brunch on Saturday and it was quite nice - the restaurant has a small outside patio on 46th, which was amazingly rather quiet.

Have fun!
