Advice on hotel, The Algonquin or The Muse

Which one do you all think? Totally different hotels less than $200 per night,
any other suggestions?

The location of both are similar-very nice. The Algonquin hotel has great ambiance, wonderful public space and pretty basic rooms with small bathrooms. Depends on what you're looking for. If this is for an upcoming trip, the Rihga Royal is a great value for $199 (go to travelzoo.com) is it works for your dates. The Carlton on Madison also has a special rate for under $200 on travelzoo. That hotel was recently totally renovated and has a very well regarded restaurant.

I can't comment on the Muse, but I love the Algonquin. The location is great, just a few short blocks to Times Square. Yes, the room was small but very comfy and I loved the ambience and historic feel to it, and found the service to be very good. And the Dorothy Parker quotes on all the doors is a nice touch.

Based on photos of the rooms at the Muse, I'd say they both hotels have small rooms and very small bathrooms. So unless you can find something else, pick the Muse if you like the idea of freebie cont. breakfast, wine and cheese in the afternoon or pick the Algonquin if you like the idea of a historic place with nice lounge and bar.
