San Diego Chargers
...Just was advised that my husband and I are heading to San Diego from the 16-20 th of October and would love to surprise him with Monday night football Charger tickets for his birthday. I checked the Charges website and the prices are all over the map and the seats are as well.
Are there any Charger fans or local SD fans with knowledge of the stadium of where are the best seats for the best value ... Help !

As a long-suffering Chargers' fan, I now watch the games on television, but my best friend Jeff, who has had season tickets since the late 1970s, had this to say"
"One of the best websites to purchase tickets is stubhub.com. Once there, my recommendation would be to search for seats in the upper level, sections 4 through 9. The reason for upper level is obvious...the seats are far less expensive. Sections 4 through 9 are between the goal lines on the north side of the stadium. You will be surprised how many more seats are still available on the north side and for lesser asking prices. Good luck and Go Chargers!"
Of course, he added:
"My best answer would be that if you want the best seats for the best value, try the barstools in your hotel bar."
Now you know why he is my best friend.
Go Chargers!!!!!

my niece works for the Chargers and says this "I think the best tickets are the $98 Plaza/Field/Loge ones. If she can afford them - the club level seats give them access to really
nice bars and concessions inside the stadium, and waitresses at their
seats - but those babies run from $200 - 300/ticket"

You don't want front row Field Level along the sidelines. All you'd see would be the backs of the players and personnel on the sidelines.
Almost anywhere else is fine for view, even the End Zones, although, obviously, the best views are on the 50 yard line!. I like Plaza level myself from about row 15 back (higher numbers). There you're under the overhang and protected from sun and rain and spilled beer from above. You're also closer to the purveyors of food-other-than-hot-dogs.
Were you looking at available tickets on the Charger site, or just general seating?
As for Maitai's bar stools idea...good unless the game is blacked out in San Diego, which is a real possibility given the team's less-than-great performance so far this year and the continued high price of seats.
If you do go to the game, take the Trolley. It will be vry busy, so go early.

I'll disagree w/MTom on this one. stubhub should be a last resort as it is a 'scalping' site. They'll have good seats, & you will pay a premium for them. If you can still get what you want on the Chargers site, by all means, buy them there, it will save you $$.

SD Charger fan and native and been to the Q many times to see our boys play..We usually sit up in the Plaza level but we don't go much anymore. we like the 40 yard area.
Do you have a hotel yet?
Players usually stay at the Marriott in LJ or Mission Valley.
Great deals right now.
Taking the trolley is one of the best ways to get there and back..Gaslamp area from the Omni is a drop off or the Grand Manchester Hyatt/Hilton on the bay.
Try expedia.com

We took our family to a Chargers game two years ago and had a great time despite the crowds. I bought my tickets on ebay from a season ticket holder. Here's a link to my trip report http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...ort-nov-07.cfm. Sounds like a great idea for a birthday present. Have fun!
