San Antonio Must Sees
I am going to San Antonio for the weekend- would love some quirky suggestions for dinners and some "must sees". Not into the touristy destinations- like to see things that I can't buy on a postcard! Many thanks-

This is not a touristy place and it's a little hard to find, but we always try to eat there when we are in San Antonio. It's just great and very reasonably priced.

If you want to see quirky, go to La Villita where you'll find a glass blower who has been there for 100 years and charges 5 cents admission. He provides a little narration while he's working. Re: quirky dinners, I'm sorry, I don't understand what that means.

Sorry- by "quirky" I just meant no chain restaurants and something completely unique to the city. Thanks for the suggestion on the glass blower. Do you know if he sells his creations? Have found a few suggestions in other's posts- but am still open to suggestions-

Yes, the glass blower does sell his creations some of which are really intricate. As he is aging, his offerings are dwindling--definitely a unique experience!
Re: food, Boudros is great--also check out Zuni Grill and Rio Rio. Hope you enjoy a great, quirkly trip! ;-)

I was in San Antonion about 7 years ago and one place that I remember fondly was the Market Square. It was fun, lively experience. It was a nice afternoon spent walking around shopping, enjoying margaritas and good food.

Well, the Painted Lady inn is a rather quirky bed and breakfast, very close to downtown. The rooms have names instead of numbers, and are completely different from one another. They also have a hot tub on the roof. Very nice.
Very close from the Painted Lady, you can find the Liberty Bar, a little restaurant with great food. The Barn Door is a great steakhouse. Le Pep is great for breakfast and brunch. Chester's is a local hamburger chain with great burgers and fries.
A quick Google search will help you finding the exact locations.
