San Antonio Lodging & Meals

I am looking for medium priced lodging in San Antonio. We are visiting Sea World & may check out the Riverwalk. Last visited SA 15 yrs ago so I'm sure much has changed. Looking for cool local spots for dinner, especially any that have live music that my 5yr old could go to also.
Thanks!

Please define "medium price"? We stayed at the Marriott Riverwalk last Summer (got it through Priceline or Expedia I believe) for approx. $85 a night.

Yes, lots has changed in 15 years! Be prepared to contend with lots more traffic, though not as bad a NYC, LA or Dallas.
www.seaworld.com has links to several hotels, and ther are many other sin all price ranges. Check out www.sanantoniocvb.com for hotel and other info.
Can't think of anywhere with live music that would welcome your 5 year old.

Yes, the two mexican restaurants in the old market area (names escape me but they are owned by the same people) have mariachi bands. My kids (3 & 7) loved it when they came and played at our table. From the Riverwalk catch the Trolley and tell them your needing the Old Market stop.

Pumpy, one of the restaurants in the market is Mi Tierra. The food is pretty good, prices moderate, and the band was cool. The women go table to table making tiarras for the little girls (or us big girlies too , for a donation of course. But great fun. Enjoy!

BTW, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, just down from the Riverwalk, so it wasn't quite as expensive but still close to everything. The free breakfast bar was good too, with 'homemade' ?? sausage biscuits.

If the main purpose of your trip ios going to Sea World, you definitely DON'T want to stay downtown since that is at least a 30-minute drive away, the room prices are a lot higher, and you'll have to pay for parking! I would recommend using an internet site (such as hotels.com or expedia.com) and finding a hotel near I-10 and Huebner Road. This area is closer to Sea World and Fiesta Texas, and there are a lot of more budget-priced hotels and restaurants in that area. I know there is a Super 8, and a Motel 6, and several other similar places.
