Restaurants in Las Vegas - Bellagio and Mirage

We are going to Las Vegas this Friday and staying for 4 days at the Bellagio. We'd like to have a special romantic dinner one night at a restaurant in the Bellagio. What would you suggest - my husband does not eat seafood and is not that big on Asian or haute French cuisine. Olives sounds good, but we live in Chicago and eat out a lot at Italian restaurants, and it sounds somewhat similar to a lot of places we go regularly. Has anyone been the to Steakhouse at the Bellagio? Is it overly "clubby" for a nice romantic dinner? Any other Bellagio suggestions I'd love to hear.

Also, suggestions for dinner in or at the Mirage for Sunday night would be appreciated. We are going to see Siegfred & Roy and want to eat somewhere near the show. Same parameters apply as above re cuisine. Thanks!

The steakhouse you are mentioning is called Prime. The food is excellant.

If you want Italian, Circo is also a very good trattoria.

In Bellagio I would go to Prime or Picasso (french but not too stuffy). Both are hard to get reservations for (especially Picasso) so make them ASAP.

Prime and Picasso are both great ideas but it is REALLY difficult to get reservation for Picasso and YES.... it is that good.

Olives is not really "Italian". Not in the main stream pasta and red sauce sort of way. Try it for lunch. My favorite is Circo for romantic dining by the windows with the fountains outside.

Picasso was not my style at all.
Wouldn't recommend it for most people.
Tiny portions of very beautifully prepared and presented exotic foods.
Very nice atmosphere and service, but for sheer food pleasure, it left me (Literally) hungry.
For an occasion, the atmosphere and service are great, though.
I'd recommend Olives, Prime or Circo.

Laurie,

There are some very good restaurants at the Mirage for your Sunday night show. Kokomo's sits inside the tropical rainforest at the Mirage anad serves good steaks and seafood (I know you said he doesn't eat seafood but does that include crab, lobster and other shellfish?).

Also, when you say he doesn't like Asian, do you mean Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese? 'Cause if not there are wonderful Chinese and Japanese restaurants there as well.

Unfortunately (for him) the other two main restaurants there are French and Italian--which only leaves the buffets and the California Pizza Kitchen.

What DOES this man eat all year?

Tom

Laurie,

No offense but your husband sounds like a real "hoot." I hope he is too, because the S & R show is definitely NOT!

If given a choice between S & R and having hot pokers put into my eyes, I'd have to think long and hard...

Have to disagree about the previous post on S&R. I enjoyed it and found it entertaining. However, I went because it is a cheesy, over-the-top Vegas show. I didn't go expecting the Metropolitan Opera, I went with the expectation of "Vegas".

By far "O" is a better show. But, for sheer Vegas gaudiness, S&R is right up there.

Wow I loved S & R. If everybody says it is so awful why do so many people go? Is it just the in thing to dis the show right now?

Hi! Try Onda's in Mirage for a good Italian meal. And as posted previously Kokomo's(not seafood eaters either and we loved it). Sorry, can't help with places in Bellagio. But do make your reso's before you leave to avoid disappointment. Have fun!

My husband and I just returned from Vegas where we stayed at the Bellagio last week. We really liked Bellagio's Prime Steakhouse. We're from the Midwest, and we have great steakhouses in our city. Prime was just as good so I was impressed. Make reservations at Prime, and specifically ask for a table by the windows so you can watch the Bellagio's famous fountains dance while you eat. You'll also be able to hear the fountains, but it isn't obnoxious at all. Just be prepared to drop some major amounts of money. Everything is a la carte, but awesome!

I know you asked about restaurants, but make sure you take in Bellagio's spa. You won't regret it! We also loved the pools. Enjoy!
