China, are you usually just there for one night? Several of the Hilton Garden Inns (including the "Times Square" and "Chelsea" ones) keep coming up on the "last minute" booking site: hoteltonight.com I'm talking like right around $100. Great if you can rebook last minute and cancel a held reservation there or somewhere else. I just looked and for tonight, the Chelsea one (28th) is $109, the one on 35th is $99.

we're going for 3 nights (and three shows, of course ). With my mom going, I got a senior discount which put it at $143 for a room with 2 beds. That's probably good enough for me. I love being that close to the theaters, so the after-show walk is short, especially in February! It is cancellable, so if something better goes on last minute sale, I could take advantage.

I was really impressed by The Jewel Hotel which faces Rockefeller Center. The location can't be beat! I stayed there alone for one night last summer and would recommend it to anyone.

I don't see that sbfrench even bothered to respond about the dates, as I know hotels less than $300, it isn't hard if it isn't an in-demand period. But if it's mid-January, for example, that's not so hard. I never spend that much. I spent less than that during Thanksgiving, actually, at an Applecore hotel near Times Sq which I've used several times. I was only going for theater so wanted to be in that location. I stay at the Broadway at Times Square, but they have another one just a block or two farther east which is a bit cheaper. I think I paid about $250 a night, and that was during Thanksgiving weekend.

The Warwick up near Carnegie hall has rates around $250 a lot of the time, also. So does the Edison.

Neo-- We're actually going for a couple of older shows that somehow we've missed. I was so disappointed that Side Show was closing before we get there, that was our first choice. So we're going to see the Lion King (nope, never saw it), Book of Mormon, and the one newer play: The Curious Incident of the Dog in Nighttime.

Interesting about Side Show - I really wanted to like it more than I did. Some good talent, good story but the book and tech were weak, I thought.

I was just searching Manhattan hotels on kayak.com with "Good" or better guest ratings under $250 and found several for June.
