Rainbow Grille..jackets for men?

I was just looking at a link for the Rainbow Grille next to the Rainbow Room...it says "suggested" jackets for men....we are hoping to stop in for a drink in the early evening after strolling Central Park, etc.
We will have checked out of our hotel and will have our luggage in my cousin's car which will be parked (not sure where yet)....will the guys have to go get jackets (from the car) to get in for a drink?
Thanks for any information,
Shadow

If it says "suggested," probably not. But make sure they look neat.

Agreed. Suggested means they won't turn you away without one (but would really like to) - but definitelly no shorts or sneakers or tee shirts. They should be at least business casual.

Please note that when they are fully booked for dinner, you'll need a dinner reservation to go up.

Thanks,...I do need to do some shopping for clothes that are comfortable for just walking around Central Park but also going out that evening! (since we will be checked out of hotel...)

We've gone up there plenty of times in the past for drinks with and without jackets but that has been a couple of years.

Did they change the requirement that you cannot get up to the bar without a reservation?
