I will be going to Riu Playacar soon.
I do the packing for both myself and my husband. I have some summertime dresses and sandals that will be perfect for our eve meal but wonder just how the men dress.
Will Dockers and Tropical shirts (with collars) be appropriate.

Just got back from the Playacar on Sunday. In the buffet restaurant, at dinner only, the men must wear pants. So what you mentioned is perfect. At the seafood restaurant and the steak restaurant (both require reservations) they can wear shorts. The only meal that requires pants for men is dinner in the buffet.

I am surprised that the restaurants that require reservations allow shorts.
I would think the buffet would be more casual.

We were at an AI in Feb in Playacar (not Riu) and men could wear shorts at buffet for dinner, but had to wear long pants at the reservation restaurants -I think this is pretty typical.

My husband and I found this interesting too, but after seeing several men get turned away at the door of the buffet for not having pants on we decided that they were serious about it. The only thing that I can think is that maybe they are trying to keep the dinner buffet alittle less casual by requiring pants for men.

I do have one other question about the resort.
Is there a bar near the beach. I have seen alot of people say take your insulated mug with you so I assume it is some distance from drinks to beach.

There is a bar in the pool which is about 50 - 75 yards from the beach. An insulated mug is a great idea, we didn't take any, but would just get two beers or sodas everytime we went to the bar and then take those to the beach.
