places to visit near Hilton Head

My family may be going to Hilton Head in mid-April. We have 3 boys (the youngest is 10) and would like to see if there are places to take them that are somewhat close by. I'm not sure if Savannah would be good for kids that age. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you want to trek into Charleston, the aquarium is terrific. Maybe someone can tell you where the fishing boats come in near there--that might be fun to see.

Keep in mind that they might prefer to stay close to HHI. The beaches should be empty, huge and beautiful. The bike riding is also endless with lots of rental options for kids of all ages.As an empty-nester from the northeast, we often made sightseeing plans for our kids but never seemed to have the ambition to leave the relaxing beach life.If possible, you may want to avoid golf tournament week.

Your boys should be able to fish, kayak, and crab in addition to biking and beaching. Take one of the nature cruises to see dolphins, manatees, shark and birds. I think you will have little problem filling vacation time on Hilton Head.

I agree - unless you're going for more than a week, they shouldn't get bored. Plenty to do on the island.
