Park Central Hotel -- NY -- opinions

Through Priceline, I just received a reservation at the Park Central Hotel for five nights the week before Thanksgiving. It's rated 3 stars but I've read mixed opinions about the hotel on various discussion boards. Has anyone here stayed there? Thanks.

Well - it does get mixed reviews. But I think this is - at least in part - due to unrealistic expectations.

I read one in which the reviewer was expecting "plush" - not in any 3* I know. And another complained about the noise of the soda maachine - and when given a new room didn;t like the view. (MANY hotel rooms in NYC don;t have views - it;s a big city full of tall buildings and many rooms look out at not much - esp in the budget range.) But - some of the complaints did seem legitimate.

So - what are you expecting? And how much did you pay? Were there hotels that looked nicer but were more money? (There you have your answer.)

IMHO - I wouldn't stay there - but don;t know your price point.

Thanks nyt -- my decision was driven primarily by price -- we could have crashed with friends in the suburbs, but figured the Park Central (or other 3-star hotel thru PL) was worth it at $170 + tax.

I think you'll be happy, especially at that rate. It isn't posh, but it's nice enough and well-located.

I'vestayed there twice in the past couple of years and while it is far from posh, it is fine especially for the $ you are paying. My biggest complaint is that the elevators can take forever--too many hotel rooms for the number of elevator cars. Other than that, it is an excellent location and the rooms are decent size and reasonably clean.

I booked a group of 44 at the Park Central but it was in 1992. No one had any complaints. The location was good and so was the price. Sounds like that hasn't changed. You should be fine.
