feb 25th, 113.50 this is the price ive been quoted from travel.com
it seems really cheap. Has anyone stayed there before?? Have any advice?

This is just for the day we arrive to see pearl harbor and recover from the 12 hr time difference before we board the pride of aloha.

Brittany21, I think that you might do better, based on the reviews of this particular hotel on tripadvisor.com. It has mixed reviews, but when there are so many bad ones, I'd look elsewhere, I think.

I do not know this to be true of this particular hotel, BUT some of the hotel rooms in Waikiki can be pretty bad for reasons like "city view" means anything that's not "ocean view" such as looking over an alley, elevator shaft, or the hotel room next door. Or possibly hearing mechanical noises from HVAC or elevators at night, very small rooms, not so clean, etc.

That said, there's a TON of hotel rooms in Waikiki so a low price in a large property alone would not surprise me or scare me off from a particular hotel. Bad reviews would.

well it is only for the one night, we are basically just looking for a place to "crash".. i think i spoke with u on my other thread suze.. i was able to convice my mom to arrive early in honolulu if we can do it very cheap.. we not looking for atmosphere with the hotel, we'll that on the ship.. i just dont want a dirty place.

Any of the Ohana hotels are OK.

They are not the best, nor the worse.

Reservations at an Ohana hotel gives you the option of using some of the facilities at Oourigger hotels.

Dusty!!! Im pretty sure my mom is going to go for it, especially with how inexpensive this Ohana hotel is. So im very excited..

By the way, it should be Outrigger Hotels, not Oourigger.

I found one even cheaper, Waikiki Prince Hotel...

I really think it will be easy for you to figure out something for 1 night that's not too expensive. As I mentioned above, because there's literally thousands of hotel rooms in Waikiki, you should be able to get something that suits you just fine.

The hotel I stay at is regularly priced ~$100 so what you're looking for isn't all that unusual. Good luck & aloha!

brittany...for $113.50, you should be able to get some priceline steals....ie, we stayed at the Waikiki Marriott for $125...I thought that was a great rate. People get the Prince a whole lot for less than $100...

Read biddingfortravel.com and betterbidding.com in their entirety and try a priceline bid..or maybe even go with hotwire.

Heres what the travel agent has to say.....

Don't get the extra night if it is too expensive with all the added costs.

I would skip the extra night, quite honestly or book it with your cruise for $327 if you really want it. Seems like they'd kind of *got you* in this situation (deviation fees, whatever).

While I don't think a single night in Waikiki should cost that much (for instance you can easily take the Waikiki hotel shuttle bus from the airport for $8 per person, not a taxi for $35 is one thing that jumped out at me).

But also I personally would not be happy with a $55/night hotel (and believe me I'm not that picky) that's just too cheap you won't get a decent place.

If I remember correctly(?) the only reason you added this night is because people talked about late flights and missing your cruise departure, right?

I would go back to whatever your original plan for the cruise was, and save going to Waikiki for another trip (which you book totally on your own, so are not beholding to a cruiseline or travel agent or tour group!).

Deviation fees are changing your flight plan from anything but what would be the norm, they may also be referred to as premium air services,
from what a fellow poster has explained to me on cruisecritic.com, when you upgrade to premium air services (or deviate) you are also gaurnteed seats together, where as before you may not have been. You will also know your flight plan way in advance now, where as before you would not until 30 days prior. That is my take on it all, im going to confirm all this with my TA tomorrow.

My original concern was the weather and delays, but as i talked to fellow posters they have convinced me that getting there a day ahead of time to catch up from jet lag and just enjoy a full day in Honolulu is the real reason to arrive a day ahead. My stepdad really wants to see pearl harbor and this way he can. Also by using the cruise line, they provide an NCL desk at the Marriot with Precheck in so there will be no wait to get on the ship, and we can book our excursions there.

I'd go with the cruise's package for the extra $40 or so (even more if you cant get a $55 hotel or if you still have the deviant air fee.

No hassles, much better hotel, and if something goes wrong, the cruise people will have to take care of you.

it is such a small amount of money saved doing it yourself, and opens up all kinds of things that could go wrong IMO. if you want to add the day, go with the way the cruise arranges it for you, is my best advice.
