HOTEL IN WAIKIKI

I am planning on going to Waikiki in June with my Wife, Son and his girlfriend. Would like recomendations on where to stay without taking out a 2nd mortgage. Every place I've considered has had several bad reviews amoung them.
Any suggestions? Have looked at the Resortquest Waikiki Beach, Outrigger Luana and Ohana Royal Islander.

Try the Ohana East Hotel. The hotel was recently renovated, the rooms are very big and clean and the location is great. We were there in November and will stay there again.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ohana Islander Waikiki in January and would stay there again.

There is some construction in the area, but we didn't spend alot of time in our room so didn't mind.

Have you checked out www.tripadvisor.com?

Although it gets panned here, I liked the Sheraton. And it's in a good location. The Outrigger with Duke's restaurant looked good, too. Being on the beach and not having to cross a busy street is a huge advantage.

If you are looking for budget, try the Ocean Resort. There was a thread here on the forum recently; you can do a search for it.

My mom really liked the Ilima. The have condo type units, within the hotel. Also the lowrise, The Breakers, which is in a great location.

All three of the ones you mentioned are decent.

The Outrigger Luana was recently remodeled.

Any Ohana Hotel is OK.

Outrigger Reef on the Beach is nice.

Outrigger also owns the Ohana hotels. Most have 5th night free.

Resortquest Waikiki Sunset and Resortquest Waikiki Banyon are decent condos.

This link is a map (a few years old) of most Waikiki hotels & condos. Outrigger Luana is the Waikiki Terrace on the map.

The Breakers and The Hawaiiana Hotel on BeachWalk are nice smaller low-rise local style hotels.

I didn't stay there but Outrigger Reef looks nice (walked thru their common areas, shops, had a spa treatment, ate at the restaurants).
