New Ritz-Coconut Grove Location?

Can anyone tell me if this hotel is in a nice location. For strolling around, checking out shops/restaurants. How does the new hotel look? We are thinking about staying there for 2-3 nights and also Ritz Key Biscayne for 2-3 nights. Does this seem like a reasonable thing to do, or are they too much in the same area?
Thanks in advance, have never spent any time in the area.

The Ritz in Coconut Grove is right in the thick of things- good shopping mall with VERY upscale stores ( make sure you can speak Spanish , as there is a terrific Spanish influence in this Mall in particular- lots of wealthy S.Americans come here--)

The Ritz on Key Biscayne is MORE of a resort location--gorgeous beach-not much shopping near by....

Both hotels are not more thank 15 min. apart....

What airport are you flying into-Miami,Ft.Lauderdale or Palm Beach?
THe reason I am asking is there is an AWESOME hotel in South Beach called the Delano--- it has an infinity pool and a very hip area-old fashioned type cabanas around the pool==designed by Phillipe Staark, a Paris Int.Designer--
You might like to try that better than the Ritz in Key Biscayne, just to get a more "Miami" feel--that area had Lincoln Rd shopping area, and tons and tons of awesome restaurants--all very hip and very young- also lot of the fun gay crowd..You will have a good time there--

There is also a beautiful Ritz Carlton in Manalapan Fla( PALM BEACH) which is also gorgeous with the typical Ritz great service...But you will need a car to drive into town for the awesome shopping on Worth Ave ( like Rodeo Drive)...If you need anymore info, email me direct- I feel like I am writing a BOOK! LOL

Andy,
Thanks so much for the info. I was hoping it was a good location. As for the Delano, we did look at it, but it seemed a little too "busy" for my tastes. We are pretty "low key". Ha!
We are actually driving over so will have a car with us. We are planning on just cruising around a bit. Had first looked at the Grove Isle (still are, sort of) and then stumbled across the new Ritz and thought we might consider that as well. Very cheap opening rates to be had! Any thoughts on the Grove Isle?
Thanks again!

Sherry- Have no idea about the Grove Isle--

All I know is the RITZ has service to die for!!! You are low key and you are going to the Ritz-- isn't that a contradiction! LOL

Have a great time and get some sun for me!!

If by "low-key" you really mean quiet and not plain, then the Ritz on Key Biscayne is the place for you--very quiet, relaxing location, and then if you want some action at night, you can just drive over to South Beach.

Hmmmmm......what DID I mean by "low key"?!? I doubt I would ever be described as quiet..LOL! I guess what I meant was we are not bar/club people anymore. Being in the "action" part of town is not important to us. Good restaurants/food/wine are more important to us. And good room service!
Although I'm sure one night we will take a drive over to South Beach just to have a look around so we know what everyone is talking about!!
So it sounds as if Key Biscayne fits the bill.
Thanks to both of you for the info!
Still kinda wondering why so little is ever said about Grove Isle....it LOOKS good but maybe not....

Sherry- Forgot to tell you something terrific about all the Ritz's--

REQUEST a room on the CONCIERGE LEVEL-it comes with a buffet breakfast (bagels, smoked salmon, granola, fresh fruits,juices,muffins,danish)..then they put out a spread for lunch---and then in the afternoon they have an ENGLISH tea on Concierge -complete with Scones, cream, tea sandwiches,teas--then at cocktail hour, complimentary liquor and hor doueveres and at late nite-chocolate covered strawberries--

And if you want, hubs can request a tray and serve you in bed!! I AM SERIOUS!!! It is to die for!!!

Plus daily paper delivered to your door!
