New England help - romantic place for overnight this Sat. 1/22

Call all New Englanders! Looking for a romantic spot to go this weekend within an hour and a half of Central Mass.. Looking for a resort/hotel with indoor pool & hot tub OR a B&B/hotel with fireplace and whirlpool tub in room. Can anyone recommend a place? Thinking of Berkshires, Kennebunkport, Cape Cod, Newport, any ideas?

May I suggest Newport -- the Castle Hill Inn is great. You can also try smaller inns such as the Francis Malbone House or perhaps The Viking. A couple of really lux inns are the Abigail Stoneman Inn http://www.abigailstonemaninn.com and the Adele Turner Inn which has fireplaces and whirlpool tubs (VERY romantic inn, in my opinion) http://www.adeleturnerinn.com Can you tell I love Newport?!

Thank you both for your suggestions! I am leaning towards Wentworth By the Sea in New Castle, NH. I thought we could go to Portsmouth for some and maybe to see a band. Bennnie - in a previous post, you mentioned you are going there and got a great rate, may I ask where and how much? They're running $169 where I'm looking and also after calling.

$169 is the best you'll do-that should include one spa treatment and b'fast for 2

turtlegirl - $169 is bottom rate on all of the sites that I've checked for room only, no spa, no b-fast. Where are you getting your info.?

Sam,

The great rate that I got was for Feb vacation - 2 nights for $199. In the past I've seen rates as low as $99 for weekends but not lately. Did you try the Marriott website? And did you try to get an AAA rate? It might be a tad lower. I do love that hotel and am looking forward to our stay in Feb.
