Midtown Advise

HI guys

Read that Midtown was a good place to stay for 2 days with a friend for some romantic times. Priceline came through with Marriott Suites Midtown.

My questions are: Any comments on the hotel I got? What restaurants (nice, semi-formal, but not out-right expensive) are good around that area as we won't be renting a car for such a short stay? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Just for the record, are we talking about New York or somewhere else? Your post and title never give us a clue and I know a lot of cities have midtowns.

There is no Georgia board, just a US board. Selecting a state just gives your post a keyword to search on.

Just put Atlanta into the header post of your question...for some reason, you cannot post directly into each specific state....

When you add Atlanta to your MAIN question, more people will see it and be able to help you...

In Midtown,we really enjoy Veni Vidi Vici on 14th for "upscale" Italian. Tamarind is right across the street, and although we have not eaten there, it has a great reputation for Thai. If you want something greasy, visit the Varsity for chili dogs and onion rings -it's an experience!

Great location. I used to live on the block behind the Marriott and family always stayed there. You are next door to the Four Seasons Hotel. All around the whole block within walking distance are new little bistros, nightclubs, Martini Bar, dance clubs, subway station, sports bars, the Art Museum, bagel place, & Starbucks is next door. Across the street in "Colony Square" is a bank, ATM, and many other restaurants as well. Even the restaurant in the hotel isn't bad, I would have breakfast alot there with family before they would leave. Enjoy !

Thanks everyone for the great responses..especially Wednesday for the hotel reassurance...with PL sometimes you never know and most guidebooks except Frommer's didn't even mention the hotel which got me nervous!!(Don't understand why..it sounds perfect, and great for a die-hard Starbucks fan!!)
Keep them coming.

Just wanted to report back as you guys were so helpful.
Marriott Suites was worth every penny and then some for the PL costs....definitely would go back.
Midtown was fantastic, close to everything and all the restaurant choices in the world. Ate at Tamarind's and it was great. Thanks everyone.
