Best hair salons in NYC?Help!

I need a really good salon...Going with a friend and we are willing to spend up to 200.00 or so on a cut.........I did a search on here for hair salons but they go back to 2002!
Please advise any good salons. We will be staying in midtown most likely at the Waldorf............thank you!We are going in April.

Also, you don't have your message listed under New York.

There is no such thing as "posting under any location". (except for US, Europe, etc) All messages fro the US come here. Your post was just right, mentioning the city.

You can search under a certain city or state, but all posts are here.

Austin,
When I search New York, this thread is not listed. I was under the impression that it was more useful to post under the state where you are looking for advice.

Henry - there are no separate state boards. All US posts come to one place - here.

Sometimes I find posts using the search, sometimes I don't. Perhaps someone can explain it. Maybe because sunny's post says NYC and not NEw York?

Don't want to be nosy - but it would help to know your age group - and if you're looking for something traditional - or very trendy?

I am a huge fan of Nick Arrojo. I would also suggest you check allure.com which has extensive listings.

I think Oscar Blandi is in the Plaza Hotel. It would be fun to go there IMHO.

I should do my research before I reply...Oscar Blandi is located at 746 Madison Avenue. Let me know if you end up going there!

There are good stylists at lots of different salons. I think it depends on who you get rather than where you go. Oscar Blandi himself is amazing but you won't be able to get a haircut and styling from him for $200. In fact, $200 at this point is moderate. You might have a look at the places listed at NY magazine (nymetro.com) They describe specialties.

Mclaurie, good advice. It all depends on WHO you go to at a certain salon. I have two stylists in the DC area at two different salons-- but I probably would not go to anyone else at either place.I drive three hours just for a haircut, but it's my "thing", and I love my haircuts.

I think that you will pay more than $200 at those midtown salons. I live in midtown Manhattan but for cuts and color, I am very happy with Sacha & Olivier, 6 West 18th Street, in Chelsea near Union Square Park. They cut dry, and Sacha has given me the best hair cuts of my life. A cut will be under $200. It is a small salon that has been mentioned in several fashion magazines.
