Gifts from Orlando for family and friends

Our family will be visiting Orlando (WDW and Universal) in a few weeks. What kind of gifts do you bring back for your family and friends? Does the South Orlando Costco sell anything that would be appropriate for gifts?

The South Orlando Costco is in a largely Hispanic residential area across from Florida Mall. It has no souvenir items that I can think of. But then, I don't know what kind of item you're looking for. Orlando is not known for anything other than the attractions, which of course have their own souvenirs for sale. Florida Mall is frequented by tourists as well as locals, but again, I can't think of any souvenirs.

I bought my father-in-law a shell nightlight that said "Florida" on it.
He kept in his room, lit every night, for years and years. He always told everyone it was his favorite souvenier.

I have one of those from Florida. Mine is a shell that has a lighthouse carved into it. have kept it on in the bathroom for 7 yrs. They are good inexpensive souvenirs.
Tshirts are good and plentiful in Orlando. Spiderman ones are big at Universal Islands of Adventure- they have a whole Spiderman store with everything you can think of, and nice clothes. I got a Cat in the Hat shirt for myself at IOA. There is so much merchandise at WDW you will have no trouble finding something for everyone. I even got a set of Mickey martini glasses. The Christmas store at Disney marketplace will put names on alot of different WDW ornaments, which we found to be a nice personal touch- you order it and come back an hour or so later and they are done. There is also a magnet store at Disney Marketplace that has so many cool magnets it is hard to go in there without buying some for little gifts.

If you want to give your friends anything, give them fresh oranges; nothing like produce from a specific area. I remember when I traveled to Georgia and around Gaffney, SC was so surprised about finding mega peach orchards (you think of GA as the peach state), decided to come back later and to buy baskets of peaches - gave out to co-workers and they loved them.

I'd also suggest a magnet for the frige; I collect them myself. I have seashell hot pot protectors and orange blossom cologne and cream. There is also a coconut/chocolate combo at least in S. Fl that is popular.

There is an area in the tourist area of Orlando called International Drive. You can find numerous souvenir stores up and down this road for miles. T-shirts and all kinds of things with Orlando or Florida written on them.
The costco would be just like those anywhere, nothing there for souvenirs.

Hawaiimom, I was going to suggest citrus, too, until I noticed your screen name: carrying, or mailing, fruit to Hawaii would be like carrying coals to Newcastle, no?! But I love getting a box of citrus (fruit and that citrus candy) from my FL relatives, so that's my first choice; and Costco might just offer a deal on that, I don't know. Shells are plentiful--but again, shells to Hawaii? Maybe not! So I'd say T-shirts and caps, which are available in all price ranges all over. Last on my list would be ceramic tchotchkes (e.g., mugs, clocks). Good luck!

When I was in Orlando, there was a Belz outlet that had a store where you could buy Disney products at a huge discount.

I love those little ceramic salt-n-pepper flamingoes.

Oh, my flamingo-under-a-palm-tree coffee mug is one of my favorite things--the flamingo is kind of 3D, hot pink, natch, and wearing black sunglasses. And the mug says "Florida" on it in big letters. I keep pencils in it.

Just returned from Disney a week ago & had a wonderful time. I had my daughters photo taken in Epot. They had different images that your photo could be superimposed on. Daughter is 4, & choose one with princesses. You can choose from different photo packages (ours included 2 photo magnets). The grandparents LOVED the refrigerator magnets of their granddaughter having such a great time in Disney. I'm not sure which other parks do this- but it's worth looking into.
