Gatlinburg Cabin with a 6 year old

We are bringing our grandson to Gatlinburg in June and are looking for a neat cabin experience for him. We have been several times over the years but this will be the first time we have brought him just with just us.

Do you mean next month? Good luck! I would call Jackson Mountain Rentals and speak to an agent. I've dealt with them on several occasions and they are great:

I think you gave me an article on smoking by mistake...but, thanks. Interesting articles on that website....
Anyways, we have used JMH once a few years ago and had a wonderful cabin.
But, I was looking for something maybe unique that would be geared more towards a younger child...not even sure what I am looking for myself..

Sorry about the mistake, Cathie, LOLOL! I mentioned that because you will probably need a minimum stay and at this point, I'm not sure you will find anything. I suggest trying to find a place on the hill behind town...up from the aquarium. That way, you'll be close. I first took my daughters when my little one was about 6...trust me, if it has a hot tub on the deck, that's all you'll need! They also enjoyed Cade's Cove....saw a bear or two and lots of deer. Have a great trip!

You are probably right about having problems finding a place. Do you have any names of specific cabins in mind up behind the aquarium? The one we stayed in was out about 15 mins on a curvy road but it was all adults and the view was wonderful.
So, we did not mind being out that far.
When mine were younger we stayed at hotels right in town so they would be closer to the action. But, I thought a cabin might be a neat experience for him.
Thanks again, Linda. I appreciate you taking the time to post.

Cathie, I've stayed there 4 different times. Our favorite cabin was Mountain Primrose, but that's quite a ways up a curvy road and secluded. Last time we went, we took my husband's parents, siblings and spouses. We rented a huge cabin in the area I'm talking about (hill behind the town)

I checked that link, lol! Anyway, that's huge and meant for reunions, etc. It was a ball. I still think you better call an agent and see what's available to you. My kids also liked having a pool table and a game room in the basement.

I will check out all possibilities.
Thanks for the link. That one looks great for when we decide to have another family time. It is nice that our adult kids still enjoy taking vacations with us. We stayed in a 4 bedroom called Overlook Lodge that was on Pinnacle something or other..(out 321)...
Guess I need to get on the ball and decide when for sure we are going and get something reserved for us and the grandson. I know he will be excited to go.
Thanks again.

Clair - yes we are thinking of taking him to Dollywood. Just depends on the weather.

Hi Cathie, I did a google search and found these cabins that would be very nice for younger children: http://www.pioneercabins.com/index.html. As you can see, they are in Townsend, near Cades Cove. The cabins look nice, are private, have views, have hot tubs, and kids activities.

One of the simple activities that our kids always liked and still do is the sky lift. They also loved the Dixie Stampede! Of course the Aquarium is wonderful.

I guess it depends on what you have in mind. We didn't take our daughter to Dollywood until about first grade. Even then, she was a little overwhelmed.

Thank you so much for doing that for me.
I will check out those cabins right now.
We have never stayed in Townsend before so that might be a nice change.
